Are you or your child interested in receiving tutoring services?

Through the New Haven Tutoring Initiative, United Way is partnering with local organizations to help students gain critical reading and math skills, build home libraries, and make studying enjoyable.

HOW NHTI WORKS

We integrate reading and/or math tutoring activities into traditional after school programming for 2 days per week, 60 minutes per day. Reading coaches from New Haven Reads and math tutors from New Haven Counts plan and facilitate activities. Tutoring programs use one of the following methods:

  • INFUSION MODEL - Students work in teams and larger group settings on essential reading and math skills.
  • TUTORING MODEL - Students work one-on-one or in a small group on foundational reading and math skills.

HOW TO ENROLL

NTHI is proud to partner with local organizations to provide afterschool and summer tutoring that is free and open to all New Haven students in grades K-8 who are attending public school. To enroll your child in afterschool or summer tutoring through NHTI, please contact the partner organizations listed below.

  • If you have specific questions, concerns, or circumstances you would like to discuss before selecting a tutoring program, our partners can help advise you about which program will best suit your child’s learning needs.
  • For inquiries about math tutoring, contact New Haven Counts at 203.208.9249 or help@newhavencounts.org
  • For inquiries about reading tutoring, contact New Haven Reads at 203.752.1923 or information@newhavenreads.org
