LITERACY
Literacy tutors complete a short training (30-60 minutes) focused on the structure of the program, conduct policies with students, and note-taking. Both virtual and in-person training sessions are available. Additional topic-specific training sessions are provided throughout the year.
MATH
Math tutors complete three (20-minute) self-guided virtual training sessions, each concluding with a brief quiz. Training sessions focus on the structure of the program, mathematical practices, and math mastery tracking systems.

Location preferences are collected, however, we cannot promise there will be space within your availability at your selected organization.
In-Person & Virtual Options:
- LITERACY: New Haven Reads, both in-person and virtual tutoring occurs. The majority of our sessions are in-person.
- MATH: New Haven Counts, both in-person and virtual tutoring occurs. The majority of our sessions are in-person
- Our goal is for you to work with the same student each session. Consistency builds trust, friendship and momentum in skill development
- As a tutor, we do ask for consistency when working with the kids. We ask that you select a day and time that you can attend without too many interruptions. If you have any changes in your schedule, please provide at least 2 weeks' notice so that a substitute or replacement can be found. There is a child behind every hour that needs our help.
