At United Way, we believe that everyone should have the opportunity to live in an affordable, safe, stable home.

We are helping people connect with short-term shelter as well as providing services for people to overcome the barriers that can get in the way of long-term stable housing.

The best solution to homelessness is prevention, and United Way’s funding offers flexible help that allows people to bridge the gap that is preventing them from having a place to stay. From assistance with a security deposit, to repairing a generator in an RV, there are creative and cost-effective ways to keep people housed.

Our staff also work directly with families and individuals experiencing a housing crisis to connect them to the right resources and stay connected with them until they are able to find stable housing.

Recently, we successfully advocated for an increase in state funding for the Coordinated Access Network and for cold weather emergency funding for the Greater New Haven region.
